It’s important to maintain your wellness habits when away from home – even if you’re on vacation.  Kevin and I recently spent a week in wonderful Clearwater Beach, FL enjoying the sun, sand, and waves (and food!).  While we were there, we found a great studio, Clearwater Beach Yoga, who offers yoga on the beach every morning at 8am. I managed to convince Kevin to get up & out early four times while we were there in order to experience the joy of welcoming the day with grateful practice.

Don’t you see the excitement in his face? Ha!

We opted to rent the beach yoga blankets that are optional when you book the class.  I highly recommend these, as they were much larger than the typical beach towels available in hotels and include provisions to stake them into the sand for those windy mornings.

Our instructor, Michelle, guided us through 60 minutes of gentle poses designed to awaken our bodies and clarify our minds in preparation for the day.  She was wonderful, offering modifications for those who were struggling with some of the poses as well as suggesting challenges to others.  In all good practices the instructor strives to create an environment where each practitioner is encouraged to accept what their body is telling them in the moment, and to be comfortable with modifying or even opting out on the poses that are offered.  Michelle succeeded on all counts!  If you’re fortunate enough to have her as your instructor you won’t be disappointed!

Always remember to bring your wellness practices with you wherever you go.  Whether it’s yoga, meditation, or morning smoothies (or all three!) plan ahead so you can maintain your routines.  Pack your exercise clothes, make time for self care, and always look for the hope and joy that are out there.  Be open to new experiences and enjoy the opportunity to meet new people.  One day while staying at Clearwater Beach Kevin & I took a day trip down to St. Petersburg and stumbled across an incredible shop – Gopali Imports – run by a master Tibetan singing bowl practitioner, Alex Gopali.  But that’s a story for another post.

Don’t ever forget, you are worthy of so much Love my friends!  #MakeItCount  #ThereIsSoMuchHope
